dr. Laura J. DiCesare, Psy.D.

Laura DiCesare, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Pennsylvania Certified School Psychologist who received her doctorate from Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. Previously, she received a Master's Degree in Counseling and Clinical Health Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Currently, she enjoys training the next generation of psychologists as an adjunct faculty member at West Chester University’s Doctorate of Psychology Program. For the past twelve years she has done extensive work with children, teens, young adults, and adults in a variety of settings—school based, private practice, and inpatient. Her therapeutic specialties include treating those who have experienced trauma, bullying, grief, anxiety, depression, and behavior disorders. Laura also conducts psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, with assessment specialties including rule outs for Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Learning Disabilities. She also performs cognitive evaluations (IQ testing) for entrance exams and school accommodations.

Laura focuses on creating warm, supportive, and encouraging relationships with her clients and their families. In contrast to therapists who only focus on "what's wrong," she helps her clients utilize their natural strengths and resiliencies to conquer their obstacles. While therapy seems like a chore to many, her clients often express that they enjoy their time with “Dr. Laura.” Additionally, as a culturally competent therapist who is fluent in Spanish, she recognizes the power that our ethnic and familial cultures play on both the creation and solution of our issues. Laura tailors her therapy to the needs of her clients and utilizes evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness Based Meditation, and Clinical Hypnosis.
